For almost 50 years, the philosophy and approach at the core of Chabad SF is that every human being has a precious diamond within called a “neshomoh” (a soul)… Our job – our mission – is to help people discover that inner gem; to help them see it and polish it until it shines forth to its fullest radiant potential…Please donate today so we can continue to be there for every person that walks through our doors! The fact is that no two “diamonds” are alike… Every soul has its own color; its own unique radiance and glow… Every person has something distinctive to contribute to this world… Our message is simply this: “Let it shine!... Your diamond is precious – valued, needed… So let it shine!”
We not only accept, but non-judgmentally embrace everyone who walks through the doors!…
At Chabad SF, everyone belongs!... If you send your child to Camp Gan Israel, you belong!… If you attend a class, you belong!… If you join us for a Shabbat service or Friday night dinner, you belong!… If you show up on the High Holidays, you belong!… If you call us or send us an email, you belong!… If you feel connected from a distance, you belong!… You can get involved to whatever degree suits you, but you always – always – belong… This is your home and we are here for you, as we are for your family, neighbors and friends, and their families, neighbors and friends too!...
It’s been said that “Our lives are not measured in years; but in the lives of people we touch around us.”… And when you enable Chabad SF to do – day in and day out – you’re not just a supporter of a “worthy cause”; you are an active partner in touching lives!...
When people in this community come together, or stay connected from even miles from here, suffer a loss, or find themselves in the throes of a crisis – be it physically or spiritually – we are there to offer assistance and support… We are there – touching lives!...
When adults – who, for years, might have thought that “their ship had sailed” in terms of being informed and knowledgeable Jews – are presented with classes and study opportunities that cater to all levels of Jewish awareness – or lack thereof… When community-life blossoms through warm and welcoming services and programs… When families participate in a public Menorah lighting in Union Square, Sukkot on Nob Hill or other holiday celebration – we are touching lives!...
And perhaps most important of all: When children and young adults are provided with their vital Jewish education through our pre school, summer camp and youth activities, Young Jewish Professinals events & programs where they learn about their history and heritage, about Israel and Jewish culture – we are touching precious lives that will secure the future of our people!
Yes, we are doing this!… Not just us, but you and every one of our partners!… We are touching lives and we are building Jewish legacies – together!
The beauty of “touching lives and building legacies” is that it has a way of setting off chain reactions… Every mitzvah – every good deed – creates this ripple-effect that builds into these waves of goodness and kindness that spread far and wide and irrigate the landscape of countless lives…
