Positively 6th Street
Building Jewish Community in the Heart of SF
|
Chabad SF brings Jewish life, knowledge, spiritual tradition and experiences to the locals and visitors of the great city of San Francisco. Founded in 1985 by Rabbi Yosef and Hinda Langer, it was the city’s first (and remains the region’s primary) Chabad outreach center. It is now joined by Rabbi Moshe & Taliah Langer and Rabbi Shmulik & Tzippy Friedman on their team.
Chabad SF hosts a wide range of ongoing services. These include holiday celebrations, the Bill Graham Menorah, "Purim Palooza", Young Jewish Professionals, study groups, women’s circles, the Mitzvah Cable Car, the SOMA Shul during the weekdays, and Shabbat services with meals, spirits and socializing for thousands of people throughout the year. Under the Chabad SF umbrella, are the Shalom School preschool and Bais Menachem Yeshiva Day School K – 8th as well as Camp Gan – Israel.
In 2017-18, Chabad SF will continue and complete the "Positively 6th St. Chabad" project: a new community center at Sixth and Natoma streets, serving as the heart of SF’s burgeoning new Jewish corridor. The project will cost $1.5M of which $446,000 has been raised thus far - your support is critical to achieving this goal. Memorialize and honor a loved one with a range of sponsorship and naming opportunities - contact us for more details!
