SF Jewish Heritage Tour aboard the Mitzvah Cable Car Available for charters and group tours only |
Our tour takes you on a voyage through the beautiful city of San Francisco, aboard the one-of-a-kind Mitzvah Cable Car, the mission of which is to spread acts of goodness and kindness. We will cover all the significant Jewish highlights - including the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco's oldest synagogues, the site of the city's first Jewish prayer service, the North Beach stomping ground of Alan Ginsberg, the Fillmore District, the Bill Graham Auditorium, and the stories of Adolf Sutro, Julius Kahn, Emperor Norton, Levi Strauss, Isaias Hellman, and many more, since the incorporation of San Francisco, in 1850. This beautiful and dynamic city continues to grow, from the first Jews that moved here in 1850, to the economic and cultural icons that have become synonymous with San Francisco. We invite you to join us for this one-of-a-kind experience, while doing acts of goodness and kindness, and other Mitzvot, to help bring about world peace. Sample tour : The tour leaves at 10:55am sharp, from Union Square (corner of Geary and Powell St.), and ends at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, at 1:30pm. There will be a break for lunch, so make sure to include the purchase of a Kosher Box Lunch or bring something else to enjoy. (Box lunches must be ordered by the Thursday prior to the tour.)
